Energy Performance Certificate
The second compulsory item is the Energy Performance Certificates rates a home according to its:
i) Energy efficiency on a scale of A-G where the most efficient homes are banded A.
ii) The impact the home has on the environment again on a scale of A-G where the home with the lowest carbon dioxide (CO2) emissions are banded A.
Energy Performance Certificates also include recommendations as to how a home can improve its energy efficiency which would have both positive environmental and economic implications.
The average home in the UK would be rated D/E in both categories.
With regards to newly built homes sellers provide a predicted assessment of the energy efficiency of the property however a full Energy Performance Certificate should be provided to the buyer when the home is completed.
